What is Donna’s Dream?
Donna’s Dream is one of the UK’s Fastest growing and lively Organ Donor campaigns.
Donna wanted people who are waiting for a transplant, post transplant and who are Carers, friends or relatives of transplantee’s to support each other and talk each other through tough times just like she did from her hospital bed while she was ill herself.
She wanted to improve awareness of Organ Donation and wanted more people to sign the organ donor register. Donna also spoke about changing to an Opt-Out Organ Donation Register, This way everyone is automatically on the organ donation register with the option to remove themselves should they wish. This could potentially increase the amount of donor organs available for transplant improving or saving the lives of the thousands of people currently on the waiting list.
Who is Donna?
Donna Mansell was, and is, an inspiration to many people the world over. The first person in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham to receive two heart transplants she was waiting for a third which would have been another first. Sadly she didnt make it to transplant but her amazing fighting spirit lives on in the people her story and infectious personality touched over the past few years.
