What is Donna’s Dream?

Donna’s Dream is one of the UK’s Fastest growing and lively Organ Donor campaigns.

Donna wanted people who are waiting for a transplant, post transplant and who are Carers, friends or relatives of transplantee’s to support each other and talk each other through tough times just like she did from her hospital bed while she was ill herself. She also wanted to improve awareness of Organ Donation and wanted more people to sign the organ donor register.

Who is Donna?

Donna Mansell was, and is, an inspiration to many people the world over. The first person in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham to receive two heart transplants she was waiting for a third which would have been another first. Sadly she didnt make it to transplant but her amazing fighting spirit lives on in the people her story and infectious personality touched over the past few years.

What We Do

Since July 2010 we have been creating a small but close community of people who have received or are waiting for transplant on our Facebook page and Twitter. In this time many people from all over the world have shared their transplant stories with us inspiring others and helping to spread the word.

This Year we want to continue to campaign to raise the profile of organ donation and get more people signed up to the organ donor register through viral marketing, social media and by campaigning for organ donation education to become party of the curriculum for 14-18 year olds. We also want to help people who are on the waiting list or are having complications after transplant. Some of the things we intend to do include:

  • Promote Organ Donation and get more people signed up to the Organ Donor register through promotional activitys, our merchandise and viral videos.
  • Bring a little ray of sunshine to those either waiting for transplant or having complications after transplant through our new scheme (watch this space!).
  • Campaign for Organ Donation education to be added to the curriculum for 14-18 year olds in the UK.
  • Raise money for research into anti-graft rejection and stem cell research.
  • Continue to grow the profile of Donna’s Dream through this website and social media.
