Last week i received an email from a lady called Sara Care. Sara works for the Kidney Wales Foundation charity and has recently launched the Opt For Life campaign which is exactly the thing we are campaigning for, An Opt-Out Organ Donation Register in the UK.

As you will know from my previous posts, the Welsh Government have already committed to changing the law so that a Soft Opt Out System will be brought in. Wales are very keen to go it alone with the Soft Opt Out but we need this to be UK wide and that is why we are happy to team up and make this happen.

They have been working with 38 degrees and their local MP Keith Brennan on an EDM and in conjunction with the BMA have held a successful briefing event for MPs and peers last month in Westminster which saw many of them Pledge their support for the campaign.

Sara went on to say that In Wales they feel they have won the argument, with strong cross party support for Opt-Out, However in England they have been met with greater uncertainty and are still trying to change the political mood around Opt-Out.

They have a resonable amount of support from Welsh MPs in Westminster but need more English MPs on board the campaign. The BMA are very much on board and are willing to offer help.

Sara wants us to team up to help them and their campaign breach the welsh borders and push to get the Current UK Opt-In System changed to a Soft Opt-Out. To help show your support please sign our petition and also visit Opting for life and sign their wall of support.

We have attracted quite alot of media attention over the last few weeks and are in talks with various journalists who support our campaign. Hopefully, through the media we can make this Dream, A reality.
