How this tiny ZebraFish could save your life

To anyone not in the know this tiny “Danio Rerio” or Zebrafish just looks like any other tropical freshwater fish. This fish, however,  holds an Amazing Secret. It can regenerate its own Heart!

Not only its heart though, but also its fins, skin and, in larval stages, the brain too.

You may have seen the adverts on TV recently as well as our posts about it during National Heart Month, but the British Heart Foundation are going mad for this fish at the moment.

They are trying to raise £50m to research this fish to hopefully find a cure for heart disease. Now… we understand fully that this is, of course, going to throw up a massive debate about how research is conducted. Im keen to know how its done myself so ill be looking into it from now on but this is massive news for anyone affected by heart disease. HE’S NOT JUST A FISH, HE’S HOPE

You can visit the British Heart foundations own page about it here

At the moment, there’s no cure for a broken heart. Once your heart muscle is damaged by a heart attack, it can never fully recover. But there is hope.

We need to spend £50 million to fund groundbreaking research that could begin to literally ‘mend broken hearts’ in as little as ten years time.

Your support can give hope to hundreds of thousands of people across the UK.
